WISZNIA ASSOCIATES (WA) is a multi-disciplinary full service design, and development firm specializing in Architecture, Interior Design/Space Planning, Land Planning/Development Planning, Landscape Architecture and Real Estate Development with 57-years of continuous practice, and additional offices, beyond the New Orleans located in Corpus Christi, Texas and Santa Fe, New Mexico. The firm philosophy is to treat each project as though it is the only one in the office has gained WA many design awards, with several projects published nationally. Bion D. Howard, M.S. (Environmental Science) from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay and a B.A. (Environmental Systems) from the University of Redlands, California; completed post-Masters coursework at M.I.T. and Penn State University in Solar and Mechanical Engineering; Principal consultant of Building Environmental Science & Technology (1995– Present); provides technical design-support services focused on sustainable construction and remodeling practices.  Career focus: implementing energy efficiency, renewable energy applications, superior indoor environmental quality, and enhancing building standards and codes.

Prior to entering private practice, he served with U. S. EPA and professional / research groups. At E.P.A. Howard helped formulate EnergySTAR® programs.  With the Alliance to Save Energy, Washington, DC, he developed the "Building Codes Assistance Program" (BCAP), and was a founding member of U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Prior to service at the Alliance, he was NAHB's Energy Program Manager and Senior Energy Analyst for NAHB Research Center.

            Member of ASHRAE since 1982, he served on Standard 90.2-1993 committee

            (1987-1993); ASHRAE President’s Task Force on Energy Policy

            (1990-1991); and building-science related technical committees.  Voting member:

Dan G. Zollenger, Ph.D., P.E., TTI, Texas A&M University; Associate Professor in Materials Engineering at Texas A&M University specializing in pavement design, behavior and performance, material properties of concrete, and fracture and damage mechanics; an assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University and an Assistant Research Engineer at Texas Transportation Institute. His major areas of interest include concrete pavement performance, pavement design and mechanical properties of concrete. His teaching duties include pavement design and construction materials. Dr. Zollinger first became actively engaged in pavement work as an airport engineer for Salt Lake Airport. He was responsible for the design and construction control for airfield and entrance road construction and rehabilitation. As a consulting engineer for the firm of Reinard Brandley of Sacramento, California, Dr. Zollinger was involved in pavement evaluation, design, construction, and rehabilitation. He has been engaged in pavement cracking control, instrumentation, testing, and development of mechanistic pavement design procedures; He is President of International Society for Concrete Pavements; a Consultant on Concrete Pavement Engineering; Consultant for Transtec Inc. providing consulting services on various research, design, and forensics on pavement issues; has been involved over the past 8 years in the analysis and development of mechanistic pavement design procedures for concrete pavements. He has conducted extensive research into the effect of sub-base and aggregate type on pavement performance. His recent research on cracking control methodology in overlay concrete pavement considers aggregate effects, sub-grade swelling, concrete mix design characteristics, fracture properties, and volumetric strain (shrinkage, thermal, and creep). A joint research project with Dr. Frank McCullough developing and improving continuously reinforced design analysis and special design features is now underway. Dr. Zollinger currently serves on two TRB committees (A2B02 - Design of Rigid Pavements and A2E03 - Mechanical Properties of Concrete) and one ACI Committee (325 - Concrete Pavements). He has also served many years as a field artillery officer in the US Army Reserve and National Guard and has held several responsible positions involving management and execution of military operations.

William G. Reed, AIA, LEED AP – Collaborative Partner of Regenesis Group, Inc.;
President of the Integrative Design Collaborative; a founding Board Member of the US Green Building Council; currently serves on the Board of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, as an advisor to Environmental Building News, and on the board of CitiLog; and is an associate of the strategic environmental planning firm Natural Logic.
Served as co-chair of the LEED Technical Committee from its inception in 1994 through 2003; is a member of the LEED Advanced faculty and one of the first of twelve USGBC trainers of the LEED Rating System; a founding Board Member of the US Green Building Council; served on the national executive committee of the AIA Committee On The Environment; is a consultant, design process facilitator, and lecturer; and is an internationally recognized proponent and practitioner in sustainability.

Debra Lombard, EIT, LEED AP, is a sustainable design specialist for The RETEC Group.
Her background is in civil engineering with particular emphasis on sustainable design, site management, and green building materials. Ms. Lombard received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Tulane University and attended both Tulane and the University of New Orleans for graduate work in urban planning and environmental studies. Formerly with Steven Winter Associates, Ms. Lombard has more than 14 years experience working with corporate and institutional clients on a wide range of environmental, health and safety programs. She is currently working on projects for Yale University, Yale Medical School, Tufts University and other clients researching and advising on sustainable design strategies and policies.

Prior to sustainable design consulting, Ms. Lombard worked as an assistant engineer on a large construction project on the Nashville Street Wharf in New Orleans, was a designer for various architectural firms, a project manager for the St. Tammany Parish Public Works Department on the first Rails-To-Trails project in Louisiana. Ms. Lombard initiated sustainable design in the first ISTEA federally funded Rails-To-Trails project. Additionally, she was a loss control engineer for Travelers Insurance and worked for a chemical engineer on design of the Washington Parish landfill in Louisiana.

Ms. Lombard, LEED accredited professional, is a member of the board of directors of the Connecticut Green Building Council and a LEED technical advisor on Materials and Resources to the US Green Building Council. Additionally, she is a member of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), the Solar Energy Association of Connecticut and the non-profit group, People’s Action for Clean Energy, PACE. She was a participant in the 2003 Connecticut Climate Change Stakeholder Dialogue.

spent most of my time studying the relationships between the natural environment and the city; won the most outstanding thesis award for “The Elevated Line: Sustainable Infrastructure,” a project which examined the potential reclamation of an abandoned elevated railway which runs through Chicago;  received a second major at Tulane in Philosophy with a focus on American Pragmatism; worked locally for Jon Bendernagel Architects on residential and commercial projects throughout my years at school, and currently working for FutureProof, LLC a design consultancy which focuses on sustainability.

Eileen Beall, B.A. in Anthropology
Since graduating from Washington University in St. Louis in 2002 with a B.A. in anthropology, Eileen has fostered an interest in sustainable design, conducting independent research and working with a green builder in Wisconsin, the U.S. Forest Service in California and the maintenance department in Yellowstone National Park.
For this competition, Eileen gathered input from the local community, researched sustainable technologies, assisted in translating technological features into lay terms, and contributed text to the presentation.
